Ruah Camping

@Ruahcamp is a popular #recreationalarea and situated 6km outside of De Doorns, at the base of Elskloof. It consists of six campsites, a picnic area, ablution facilities, clearly marked hiking trail and rock pools. Ideal for #coupleretreats and #weekendgetaways. At Ruah Camp you can enjoy also the outdoors by #kloofing, go #rockarthunting and exploring the #scenicsurrounds.
As they needed electricity for the preservation of their fresh produce, during 1902 Elskloof became home to the first hydro electrical generator installed in the Breede Valley District by the Dicey Brothers. The Pelton wheel was imported from Italy and transported from Cape Townโs harbor to De Doorns, by horse carriages and installed at Cape Orchard Companyโs cooling rooms. The first of many in the #scenichexvalley. These remnants now lies dormant next to the tranquil mountain stream.
