There are a number of wine farms who take conservation really seriously, some of whom are World Wildlife (WWF) Conservation Champions.
Backsberg was the first wine farm to be carbon neutral in South Africa (back in 2006 already) and is also proud to be a WWF Conservation Champion, alongside Cederberg, Gabrielskloof, Lourensford, Cloof, Wildekrans and Vondeling, all of whom hosted a tasting and foraged breakfast up in the Backsberg vineyards on Monday 10th Sept.

With more than 200 wine and grape producers within its boundaries, and a historic town brimming with wine bars, restaurants and coffee shops in oak-lined streets, Stellenbosch requires a few days, at the very least, just to skim the surface of all it has to offer visitors.
You can go back again and again, of course, whether to your favourite places or discover something new.
Either way, it’s a win.

When it comes to world-class Cabernet Sauvignon, Stellenbosch has it all with its unique combination of soils, sites and skilled winemakers was yet again attested in the 2018 Prescient Cabernet Sauvignon Report, with 30 of the 40 top wines selected, hailing from this historic wine-growing region.
