Stellenbosch Visio editor France Beyers describes SMAC Gallery's latest group exhibition as #POWERFUL. The exhibition entitled Black Luminosity, curated by Gcotyelwa Mashiqa, delves into the visual representations of Black, its aesthetic language and connotations. Black refers to the dark opaque surface of artworks as well as the contingent connotations of visibility and racial bias. Says France: "Black Luminosity is a site for seeing and un-seeing, learning and un-learning...
