Tulbagh is quietly becoming a favourite for freshwater fishing with bass, carp, and tilapia waiting beneath the surface of serene farm dams and mountain-fed waters.
Voëlvlei Dam is a prime pick for smallmouth bass and carp, but don’t forget: a Western Cape freshwater angling licence and fishing club membership are required, especially if launching a boat.
Prefer something closer to your cottage door? Several local stays offer scenic catch-and-release fishing, including Rijk’s Wine Estate and Guesthouse, Kloofzicht Estate Country House, Silwerfontein, Lemberg Wine Estate, Duikersdrift Winelands Country Escape and others across the valley.
Plan your trip, pack your gear, and discover why Tulbagh is a hidden gem for anglers.
