During August we celebrate the vital role women play in our society. Our country celebrates women on Women’s Day, 9 August, and in this blog we show you what Wellington has to offer for a girl’s trip or a solo getaway. Put together a travel itinerary filled with fun experiences, delicious meals, comfortable accommodation and lots of exploration options while road tripping in and around our village.

The beautiful Garden of Poets at Breytenbach Centre is a sensory feast which every lady would delight in. It is a place of rejuvenation and rest with greenery and poems and words of inspiration against the walls, on tiles and on the ground. The Breytenbach Galery at the centre is beautifully curated and has regular exhibitions showcasing various artists specializing in various mediums.

Langkloof Roses has an intimate tearoom and rose garden. They are situated at the foot of the Groenberg in Wellington and is surrounded by oak trees and a valley of roses – a real hidden gem.

What once was used as a tractor shed and later developed into a lounge area for the farmer’s wife – is now their cosy Tea Room. The area was so loved by the farmer’s wife that she wanted to share it with others, and thus the heart of Langkloof Roses was born. It’s a warm cosy space inspired by French Provencal design and serves seasonal, delicious and healthy meals daily. Their Fragrant Foot soak is a wonderful option for feeling truly pampered, relaxed and refreshed in a Rose Oil and Herb Infused Foot Bath

Get your coffee fix in the town centre at Perfect Place. Here good coffee and friendly faces share the same space!

Experience the comfy, authentic ambience of one of Wellington’s gems, Oude Wellington Restaurant. Expect a country-style dining experience with the heart-warming hospitality that Wellington is known for.

No visit to Wellington is complete without tasting the fruit of our vines. Pop in at Bosman Family Vineyards a leading producer of Fairtrade wine devoted to responsible handcrafted wine and discover their story of the vine to wine at the estate itself in their elegant and historic tasting room. Visit on of South Africa’s best-known Pinotage wine producers, Diemersfontein Wine Estate.  They were first in the world to produce Coffee Pinotage. Enjoy a wine tasting experience at their tasting room, stroll through their gardens and view their creative selection of huge wooden animal sculptures. Imbuko Wines are famous for their pie and wine pairing. Also, try some of their wine grape jams such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinotage.

For outdoor lovers wildlife viewing, mountain biking and hiking routes are just some of the outdoor activities to be enjoyed in the scenic surrounds of Wellington and the Limietberg Valley. Enjoy a game drive through Bontebok Ridge Reserve on an open Landrover, guided by someone with a good understanding of the area. The unspoiled natural surroundings and majestic mountains create an excellent example of the biodiversity of fauna and flora and a wide variety of bird species are present in the reserve making for amazing photographic opportunities.

The Wellington Wine Walk is a popular three-to-four-day hiking trail for groups walking from winery to winery learning about the region’s history, its buchu and fynbos and enjoying wine tastings and good food along the way.
