Interesting ways of getting around in Wellington

Wellington is a picturesque town and is surrounded by farmland and nature conservation areas. The endless vistas, indigenous flora and fauna and wildlife makes it the ideal destination for discovering our town in a much more interesting way than by car. Bontebok Ridge

Bontebok Ridge offers an approximate two hour drive through the reserve on an open Landrover, guided by someone with a good understanding of the area before arriving at the lapa.

Here you can settle down and enjoy wine or light refreshments and homemade snacks at your leisure until it’s time to return back to reality.

The farm is part of the Renosterveld Conservancy in the Limietberg Valley. It offers a rare opportunity to appreciate some of South Africa’s wildlife in their natural habitat- bontebok, found exclusively in the Cape, mingle with eland, wildebeest, red hartebeest, springbuck, duiker, grysbuck, grey rhebuck, and other indigenous species. The majestic mountains add to the rugged appeal of the drive.

For bigger groups a tractor and wagon will take you on the nature drive.

Bartholomeus Klip Nature Drive

A nature drive at Bartholomeus Klip is an amazing experience.

Guests are welcome (pre-booking essential) to enjoy the morning with them visiting the Buffalo Breeding Project and the Quagga Breeding Programme, and tracking the rare geometric tortoise in their wonderful 10 000 acre private nature reserve, escorted by their qualified guides in an open game-viewing vehicle.

Guests can see antelope species unique to the Cape, such as bontebok and Cape mountain zebra, as well as many others such as eland, springbuck and black wildebeest, and numerous indigenous plants, birds and animals.

In addition to nature drives, the kitchen of Bartholomeus Klip is renowned for serving world class cuisine and is open to serve a variety of meals when visiting the farm.

Join their rangers on the morning and evening nature drives through the reserve, where there is always something different and exciting to discover.
