No need to pack your bags and take a trip to Tuscany, Positano or Sicily when you can taste Italy right here in Wellington. A visit to Sebisa and Villamar will have you shouting “Salute!”and drooling over the most “delizioso” Italian cuisine.

The recently opened Sebisa is owned by hospitable and kind-hearted Guiseppe La Gatutta hailing from Palermo, Italy.

Sebisa is located on the outskirts of Wellington and vegetables like artichokes, asparagus and fennels are grown here. Guiseppe’s very famous "Limoncello", an Italian liqueur based on lemon is also produced here. Sebisa is a Xhosa name and in the Xhosa culture it is believed that a person with a strong personality have this name. A person called Sebisa is energetic, charismatic, ambitious and focused.

Accommodation can be booked in their three spacious en-suite rooms.

  

The restaurant at Sebisa is called, La Nassa. La Nassa is a tool for fisherman to catch fish, especially lobsters and shellfish. The menu is inspired by Guiseppe’s origins namely Italy, Sicily and Pantelleria Island. He is the chef and cooks like his grandmother used to cook. His authentic Italian dishes has unique tastes and is visually pleasing. Long lazy lunches and dinners are offered on the long verandah or inside at the fireplace.

Villamar is where an Italian heritage and passion for food culminates in a vibrant culinary expression. Situated on Oudebrug Farm, nestled between olive groves, is where their philosophy of farm to plate and sustainability is the main focus and displayed throughout their menu.

Villamar meaning “house of the Marra`s” is where this family want to welcome you with open Italian arms and transport you to a piece of Italy with simple, but elegant Italian inspired cuisine.
Villamar Eatery is where you experience the chef’s imaginative creations where it all comes together on a plate inspired by Italian heritage, prepared with love, and served with kindness. The eatery is housed in joined old farm houses with modern and timeless decor for a relaxed environment with a view of the olive groves.

Experience one of their exclusive once-a-month Villamar journey menu evenings, where imagination has no limits and the experience will last a life time.

The Villamar Roastery is a first-hand experience in innovation in the coffee industry. You can enjoy tasting from their current and sometimes very special artisanal roasted selection of coffees. Also learn more about this special bean in real terms in their open roaster from their knowledgeable staff.

Villamar coffee is roasted in their 5 kg Has Garanti roaster in small batches to ensure quality. With small batch roasting they are able to modify roasts to customers’ preferences.

Coffee tastings are done in the roastery with an introduction to coffee and the roasting process. A tasting of three coffee origins costs R45 per person.

 

Villamar artisanal products are produced form ingredients grown on their farm or sourced from local producers. Their breads, cakes and pastries are baked daily for the best quality experience and taste.

Villamar ice cream are made in a one of a kind, imported ice cream machine from Italy, to produce their smooth textured, rich and creamy ice cream.

New and limited edition flavours are added regularly - or even on request.

The current firm favourites are: Mixed Berry, Chocolate, Salted Caramel, Vanilla Latte, Rooibos and Rum & Raisin.

Villamar Extra Virgin olive oil is cold-pressed from a vast variety of olives on Oudebrug Farm. To name a few: Mission, Koroneiki, Frantoio, Leccino and Manzanilla.

All the olives are hand-picked, pressed, blended and bottled unfiltered to preserve the goodness of natural nutrients.
