No need to pack your bags and take a trip to Tuscany, Positano or Sicily when you can taste Italy right here in Wellington. A visit to Sebisa and Villamar will have you shouting “Salute!”and drooling over the most “delizioso” Italian cuisine.

The recently opened Sebisa is owned by hospitable and kind-hearted Guiseppe La Gatutta hailing from Palermo, Italy.

Sebisa

Sebisa is located on the outskirts of Wellington and vegetables like artichokes, asparagus and fennels are grown here. Guiseppe’s very famous "Limoncello", an Italian liqueur based on lemon is also produced here. Sebisa is a Xhosa name and in the Xhosa culture it is believed that a person with a strong personality have this name. A person called Sebisa is energetic, charismatic, ambitious and focused.

The restaurant at Sebisa is called, La Nassa. La Nassa is a tool for fisherman to catch fish, especially lobsters and shellfish. The menu is inspired by Guiseppe’s origins namely Italy, Sicily and Pantelleria Island. He is the chef and cooks like his grandmother used to cook. His authentic Italian dishes has unique tastes and is visually pleasing. Long lazy lunches and dinners are offered on the long verandah or inside at the fireplace.
