Summer in the winelands are spectacularly seductive surrounded by lush vineyards, picture-perfect scenery as well as world-class wines and great cuisine.

The warm hospitality at the tasting room of Wellington Wines in the Bovlei building offers visitors to this quaint Boland town a signature welcome.  Even younger visitors are catered for with a specially adapted tasting.  Bring along your own picnic basket or order a platter from the Bains Café coffee shop.

The legacy of Linton Park Wines dates back to 1699 and guests will be enchanted by this undiscovered gem. Uncorked provides a light lunch menu with a fabulous food and wine pairing.  The terrace overlooks the stunning gardens and historic manor house.  By purchasing wines from their Rhino range, you can also make a contribution to rhino conservation.

Dunstone Country Estate presents the whole package of wine, food and accommodation in an idyllic rural setting whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway or some quality family time.  The Stone Kitchen family bistro are renowned for classic home-style dishes accompanied by a selection of cellar wines. This child-friendly venue has a great kids’ menu and both indoor and outdoor play areas.

Try some organic wines hand-crafted from Shiraz, Mourvèdre, Viognier as well as 40-year-old Chenin Blanc vines during an intimate tasting experience at Jacaranda Wines, the smallest registered winery in South Africa. Bespoke tastings available by appointment.

If you’re looking for a fun time, Imbuko Wines should definitely be included on your summer itinerary.  Friendly faces, epic mountain views, good food and great wines within a short drive from Cape Town make Imbuko a perfect summer experience.  Indulge in a wine tasting, a delicious gourmet pie and wine pairing or some snacks, cold drinks and craft beer.  Free WiFi and kids’ entertainment will sort out the younger visitors.  The Pomula wine spritzer is affectionately described as “summer in a bottle” and is the perfect drink for summer.

A visit to Wellington will not be complete without stopping at Diemersfontein Wine Estate to try their award-winning Pinotage – a uniquely South African cultivar.  The informal elegance of this working wine farm entices visitors to sample their full range of wines in the tasting room, enjoy a food and wine pairing on the deck or enjoy a platter or meal starring seasonal local produce from Aan Tafel restaurants.
