The beautiful town of Wellington has become an attractive visitors’ destination, but now offers an additional drawcard for visitors by welcoming pets at many of its establishments.

Enjoy a tranquil stay-over with your pet at the historic Oude Wellington Brandy Estate, the beautiful self-catering units at Langkloof Roses with its quaint tea room and magnificent rose gardens as well as the charming Cummings Guest House.

Pets are also welcome at restaurants such as AanTafel @ Diemersfontein Estate, Kitchen at Au d’ Hex, the Stone Kitchen at Dunstone and Oude Wellington Restaurant.

If you’re looking for fabulous wine tasting opportunities without having to abandon your pet, the following pet-friendly Wellington wine farms should definitely be added to your itinerary: Diemersfontein Wine Estate, home to the original Coffee Chocolate Pinotage, Doolhof Wine Estate, Imbuko Wines and Wellington Wines at Bovlei Cellar.

You can also absorb some art and culture at the Breytenbach Centre and bring your pooch along to enjoy the gorgeous garden.

It is always advisable to contact restaurants beforehand to find out where pets are allowed as some might stipulate that pets (except service dogs) are only allowed in outside eating areas.
