Who are we?

Diemersfontein Country Estate is known for its beauty, informal elegance and grace and has been owned by the Sonnenberg family for three generations. It is an idyllic country destination only 45 minutes’ drive from Cape Town yet situated in the heart of the Cape Winelands. Although Diemersfontein is the undisputed home of the original Coffee Chocolate Pinotage, there is much more to experience than just Pinotage! Francois Roode has been the cellar master since 2003 and he produces an impressive array of award-winning wines under both the Diemersfontein and Thokozani labels. While Pinotage is close to his heart, especially since it is a uniquely South African variety the Diemerfontein range includes Rhône blends, Chenin Blanc and several more noble cultivars. Central to the working wine estate is the original family manor house built by the Sonnenberg family in the 1940s and now a guest house.
