This exhibition ‘Whispers from the Lilypond / Fluisteringe vanaf n Lelie poel ‘ is the first platform for a series, that reflects on rebirth through water, water spirits, and Nymphaea (water lilies).
The body of works is mapped, woven, stitched and dressed to awaken the Nymphaea from a deep hibernation to play and dance with the water deities.
“My memories of water and lilies (from childhood to present day) drove my practice conceptually as I found myself spending days in the Stellenbosch Botanical Gardens. This initiated painterly and drawing based experiments and research – in essence, it served to manifest my lilies and water spirit through documenting my thoughts as they are mirrored back to me on the watery reflections.” – Shany van den Berg.
This exhibition will be opened with a performance by the artist.
Please join us for the opening of “Whispers from the Lily Pond” at 11h00 at Everard Read Franschhoek.
Gallery hours: 9:30 – 17:30
Entry: Complimentary

Further away from Cape Town’s Central Business District further out into the Western Cape Province are the Cape Winelands. The Winelands boast some of the most majestic scenery in the world with its beautiful wine valleys which include Franschhoek Wine Valley.
Spring is here and what better time to embrace this cheerful season in all its finery than at this year’s Franschhoek Uncorked Festival, which takes place over the weekend of 15 and 16 September. Discover a plethora of experiences as you travel from one estate to the next sampling fabulous new release wines on offer.
As part of our Nelson Mandela Day activities, Franschhoek Wine Valley visited 3 creches in Groendal with cupcakes, juice & fruit. This being a small token of our appreciation to the teachers and to spread a bit more of the Madiba Magic.
Franschhoek Wine Valley is extremely proud to announce that Bradley Ewerts, a Cellar Assistant at Haut Espoir, has been selected to participate in the Burgundy Exchange Programme.
This programme is an initiative of the Western Cape Department of Agriculture aimed at wine and cellar participants. The competition gives previously disadvantaged individuals the opportunity to acquire experience in viticulture and oenology, wine processing techniques and wine chemistry.
Our best wishes accompany him on his new adventure.
Well done Bradley!
Congratulations to winemaker Paul Gerber from Le Lude MCC and his team for scoring 94/100 in the Decanter Champagne Competition. This was also the highest score in South Africa!
