The FLF Spelling Bee Competition was held during the Franschhoek Literary Festival on 19 May 2018 at Wes-Eind Primary School Hall, with all the local Primary schools participating in the English and Afrikaans categories.
The Spelling Bee is aligned with the vision of the Literary Festival which is to create a reading culture amongst our pupils and in the valley, through creating libraries.
With the 32 pupils participating in this year’s Spelling Bee, the competition was as fierce as any sporting event. It became a battle of wills and words. They really knew their ABCs!
Franschhoek Wine Valley would like to thank The Franschhoek Literary Festival Fund, Cape Winelands District Municipality, our hosts, Wes-Eind Primary, Auntie Ruth Paulse for the delicious snack packs, Oscar’s Transport Services for the reliable & safe transport of our contestants and their parents and of course our local schools for participating.
Franschhoek Wine Valley is proud of this initiative as it is a way for the schools to come together and a great learning experience.
