Who are we?
- If you’re keen on kloofing, add a visit to this venue on your bucket list! Groothoek Hut is situated in the Groothoek Gorge nestled in the Matroosberg mountains. The road to this hidden treasure requires a 4×4 and skilled driver for you to arrive safely. The hut sleeps up to 10 people on the upper level, mattresses are provided. There is one bathroom, with warm water powered by a donkie , which needs to be stoked outside. The kitchen is not fitted with any appliances, but basic cutlery and crockery is provided. There are two fireplaces, inside and out. Grills and tongs are provided. Swimming is allowed in the clear pool in front of the hut, but be reminded that this serves as drinking water lower down, so please keep it clean! Groothoek Hut is a beautiful, rustic getaway from the rush of everyday life, but nothing fancy, so prepare accordingly!
