Who are we?
- Haut Espoir – “High Hope” – was bought by the Armstrong family in 1999. The farm is 23 hectares in size and is nestled in the picturesque mountains at the tranquil end of the Franschhoek Valley. The Franschhoek Valley lies deep in the Cape Winelands and has a proud heritage of French Huguenot tradition going back over 300 years. Haut Espoir was a subdivision of a larger property, and its history can be traced to the grazing land for the first farm (Keerweder) allotted in 1692 to Heinrich Muller. In 2000, replanting of the vines began, and the farm began to take shape with the construction of buildings and roads. The Winery was completed in 2003 in time for our first harvest in 2004. Our aim is to produce premium wines which are distinctive and handcrafted, whilst reflecting the unique terroir where these grapes are grown.
