Who are we?
- It is here on the beautiful slopes of the Bottelary Hills in Stellenbosch where, over 300 years ago, exceptional individuals discovered the strong potentials of the soils; and it is exactly 312 years ago when the first vines were planted at Hazendal with the intention to produce the finest wines possible. Several different ownerships, replanting schemes, cellar and building developments later, Hazendal today continues its winemaking legacy to produce inspiring, elegant and expressive wines, which are a genuine reflection of their place. In 1994 Hazendal was purchased by its current owners, the Voloshin and Schumacher families, who commissioned a team of specialists to restore the farm to its former glory. The result is a truly unique blend which fuses traditional Cape Dutch architecture with state-of-the-art facilities; traditional winemaking know-how with advanced modern technology.
