@Ruahcamp is a popular #recreationalarea and situated 6km outside of De Doorns, at the base of Elskloof. It consists of six campsites, a picnic area, ablution facilities, clearly marked hiking trail and rock pools. Ideal for #coupleretreats and #weekendgetaways. At Ruah Camp you can enjoy also the outdoors by #kloofing, go #rockarthunting and exploring the #scenicsurrounds.
As they needed electricity for the preservation of their fresh produce, during 1902 Elskloof became home to the first hydro electrical generator installed in the Breede Valley District by the Dicey Brothers. The Pelton wheel was imported from Italy and transported from Cape Town’s harbor to De Doorns, by horse carriages and installed at Cape Orchard Company’s cooling rooms. The first of many in the #scenichexvalley. These remnants now lies dormant next to the tranquil mountain stream.

The @veldskoenpadstal_hexriver has been in existence for more than 40 years, and established by the Van der Watt family as a local retail outlet of export table grapes. As the name entails another one of the main products featured here was @veldskoen, local produce, dried fruits and general takeaways (coffee, tea, and toasted sandwiches) was available here.
Wennie and Launa Barnard bought the business during 2006 and during 2017 Jacques and Nadia le Roux took over from her parents.
“There were no full time restaurants operational during this time, neither a place where people could sit down, relax and socialise while enjoying a soothing cup of coffee or a light meal. Along with my parents and loyal staff, we have expanded and grown into a business that is no longer just seasonal and the rural lifestyle still inspires us every day and we are privileged to be part of the beautiful #HexRiverValley and to watch our staff grow.”
The Veldskoen Farm Stall’s target market is both local and returning customers. The rest of the clientele are mainly tourists from all over the world. Come visit the Veldskoen Farm Stall where you can #eat, #browse and #relax. Sit down for a #deliciousmeal in their quant little tea garden or buy fresh produce delicacies available here.
Pre-bookings recommended for a Sunday luncheon at the @veldskoenpadstal_hexriver with family and friends:

TEKEN has been in the arts & design business for about 5 or 6 years. Hildegard Reyneke is the owner of TEKEN and she has been in the graphic design business for the past 4 years.
“I've always loved art and being creative about design too. I took art as a subject in high school and had the most wonderful teacher, she is very well known in Stellenbosch today, so she was a great inspiration! I love painting the most, it comes from your soul and heart and working with oil painting is very satisfying and it's amazing how you experience your style growing and renewing all the time. It grows with you as a human being.”
Hildegard Reyneke first studied graphic design through the University of Cape Town and now she does something that she loves. TEKEN’s target market is big markets with paintings but mostly through word of mouth. She also sells through Instagram and she is planning to build an online shop. She has also done quite a few logos and ads/invites for various businesses.
You can get in contact with her via email: hildegardr@gmail.com or visit her Instagram page @tekenhildegard or you can call her at 082 953 2569.
