Nederburg Wine Auction

Wine collectors attending the prestigious 2017 Nederburg Auction in September will be treated to a varied selection of Nederburg wines, chosen by an expert selection panel comprising eight judges, six of whom are Masters of Wine (MW).

The Paarl winery’s line-up of 16 wines spans four decades, from the 1980s to 2014, and includes six sweet, six red and four white wines. Some are sufficiently age-worthy for further cellaring while others are ready for drinking now, clearly showing the extent of the cellar’s skilled versatility.

The auction takes place at Nederburg, Paarl on Saturday 16 September. A pre-tasting of all wines to be offered for sale at the auction happens on Friday 15 September at the same venue.

Val de Vie Estate - Arise & Reign Worship Festival

The Arise & Reign Worship Festival on 17 September 2017 will see many powerful men and women of God joining in giving their highest glory and praise to our Lord on the polo field at Val de Vie Estate.

Peter Pollock, former South African cricket player and evangelist, will be sharing the message. Heinz Winckler, Andriette de la Harpe, Johan Brits, Rouchelle Liedemann, Frank Furniss and Henry Pike will be leading the worship. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs, comfortable shoes and sun hats.

Die Afrikaanse Taalmonument- Cannon Firings

Cannon firings at the Taalmonument in Paarl takes place on the last Saturday of every month. The firing is part of a series held in collaboration with CAOSA (Cannon Association of South Africa). The cannon is fired at 12pm from the Garden Theatre stage. The cannoneer will ask a question about the cannon or cannon history and a member of the public who answers correctly, will get the opportunity to fire the cannon. CAOSA issues a certificate as proof that this person has fired the cannon at the Taalmonument. The firing is preceded by a short talk on the history of South Africa’s cannons. The cannon is loaded with gunpowder (no projectile).

 Visitors are welcome to give a donation to CAOSA. No bookings required.

Alpaca Fibre Festival

It is the end of shearing, and we are celebrating the harvest of bags full of beautiful alpaca fibre.

Now is the time to think about the processing of all of these fleeces - from carding to spinning, felting, knitting and weaving. This will be a day full of fun, laughter and amazement with shearing demonstrations and crafters presenting their skill.
