The Restaurant on Le Bonheur

The Restaurant on Le Bonheur has wonderful picnics on their lawn on offer this summer.

Your picnic basket will include freshly baked bread with a pâté of your choice and a selection of cured meats & cheeses, salads, bottle of water, a sweet treat and 500ml bottle of Van Loveren Wine

There is also a Kids Picnic Hamper which includes chicken nuggets, chips, a toy, juice and a sweet.

Costs are: R175/ person

Full-moon Picnic at the Language Monument

During the stunning Full-moon Picnics at the Afrikaans Language Monument on beautiful Paarl Mountain, visitors can enjoy a beautiful sunset, the most incredible moonrise and scenic views from soft lawns. Guests are welcome to bring their own picnic baskets or pre-order some at

“Volksmond Coffee Shop” at +27 (0) 21 863 2800.

Walking trails, an outdoor gallery with poems, a playground for children, a restaurant and a free guided tour of the monument is also available.

The dates that these picnics will take place during the summer months is 4 November, 1 December, 2 January, 2 February, 2 March.

The gates will be open from 17:00-22:00

Cost is R30 for adults, R10 for students, R5 for pensioners and children under the age of six years are free.

NEW! Kosher Picnic's at Zandwijk Wines

As from October, Zandwijk Wines will have a brand new picnic option available on their farm. They will provide Kosher Picnics

This picnic offering will be available from October 2017 to March 2018.

Their picnic options are as follow:

Superior Picnic: R300/ person per basket

Kiddies Picnic: R150/ child per basket (up to 12 years old)

Enjoy a day of leisure on their premises admiring the views of the vineyards. Picnic lunches will be ready from 11am on the farm. Picnic baskets to be collected from the Tasting Room between 11am and 2pm on the day you booked. You are also welcome to bring your own picnic food to the farm.

A minimum order of two picnic baskets per order is required and all food is prepared under Beth din supervision by Norrie Caterers. Picnic Baskets must be paid 48 hours in advance.

Opening Hours: Monday to Friday from 8am – 4pm.

Closed: Saturday, Sunday, Public Holidays, Jewish Holy Days

Stargazing Picnic on Paarl Rock

The stars are doing night shift at the Language Monument. Most people may not like working night shift, but fortunately the stars feel different.

And therefore, the Afrikaans Language Monument’s ever-popular Stargazing Picnic Series is kicking off on 11 November with a festive night in a picturesque setting.

During this picnic, visitors can explore the starry sky with the help of Orion Observation Group (OOG) members who share their knowledge and telescopes with visitors free of charge. Guests are welcome to bring their own picnic basket or pre-order one at “Volksmond Coffee Shop” +27 (0) 21 863 2800.

Walking trails, an outdoor gallery with poems, a children’s playground, a restaurant and a free guided tour of the monument is also available.

Entrance fee is R40 for adults and R10 for children.

The dates the Stargazing Picnics will take place is 11 November, 16 December, 13 January, 10 February, 10 March and the gates open at 6pm.

Landskroon Wines

The view at Landskroon Wines is perfect for Picnics!

Enjoy your “Bring-Your-Own“ Picnic Basket on their scenic lawn overlooking the vineyards and Table Mountain. There is a play area (jungle gym) for children.

Entry fee cost is R35 for adults (wine tasting incl.), R25 for students (wine tasting incl. – only 18 years & older) and R10 for children (6 – 12 years)

Pre-packed Picnics are available and you need to book a day in advance.

The adult picnic is packed with coronation chicken served with creamy masala flavoured mayonnaise or a chicken kebab flavoured with fresh lemon. A soft tortilla wrap stuffed with smoked beef, marinated onions, grated cheddar cheese, tomato slices, rocket and a sweet mustard sauce. A packet of crackers and soft cheese. A fresh seasonal fruit skewer and a “koeksister”.

Cost is R135/ person

The children picnic is packed with a frankfurter served in a fresh bread roll and tomato sauce, fruit juice, a packet of Niknaks, a fresh seasonal fruit skewer and some Jelly Tots.

Cost is R80/ child

Volksmond Coffee and Curio Shop at the Afrikaans Language Monument

Wonderful picnic baskets is on offer this summer at the Volksmond Coffee and Curio Shop at the Afrikaans Language Monument on Paarl Mountain.

Picnic Baskets include snack time biscuits, snoek paté, a cheese platter, a cold meat platter, a savoury platter, “koeksister”, brownies, fudge, wine or juice.

Additional add-ons such as a Greek salad, wines, sparkling wine and other cold beverages can be ordered.

Mellasat Vineyards

This summer come and relax and laze on Mellasat Vineyard’s lawns with a gourmet picnic for two. Their picnic for two costs R279 including a glass of wine each.

They will be offering picnics to visitors from November 2017 to February 2018

Booking is essential and subject to availability. This offering is not valid on 26 November 2017, 25 December 2017 and 1 January 2018.

Mellasat is open Mondays to Saturdays from 10h00 – 15h30 and Sundays and Public Holidays  from 10h30 - 14h30.
