Star Trail Photographic Work at the Afrikaans Language Monument

The Star trails Photography Workshop at the Afrikaans Language Monument is a photography workshop where participants will learn to take time-exposure photographs to record star trails.

The workshop fee of R750 includes notes.

ADAM, Early B and Irene-Louise van Wyk promise a magical, musical summer evening

An evening of star-studded musical talent under the stars awaits everyone who makes their way to the Afrikaans Language Monument on Paarl Mountain when ADAM, Early B and Irene-Louise van Wyk turn the summer evening on Friday, 15 February 2019, into a magical musical event. A unique combination of pop, folk and rap, combined with energetic stage personalities, promise an unforgettable, entertaining evening. Furthermore, their concert at the monument is in part in aid of the Let’s Read! literacy project for children, and visitors are asked to bring and donate any children’s books for this purpose.

Bring your own drinks (no glass) and picnic baskets, or order one in advance at the delicious Volksmond Restaurant on +27 (0) 21 863 2800. Coffee, light refreshments, pizza, wine and beer will also be on sale.

Tickets, which are expected to sell out quickly, are available at Computicket and the Language Monument at R150 for adults, R140 for students and R70 for children under 13. Bring a blanket or pillow and warm clothing. Safe parking is available (a shuttle service transports visitors to the gate) and entry is controlled. Unfortunately, no dogs or fires are allowed.

Waterwise Gardening Workshop at Babylonstoren

13 February 2019 from 10:00 – 15:00

Please meet us at the Farm Shop.

In this workshop, we’ll share waterwise tips to help make gardening easier and friendlier to local wildlife, by using less water. Learn about South Africa’s indigenous vegetation under the guidance of top botanist Ernst van Jaarsveld.

We start the day with a walk, inspecting different mulches and waterwise plants used at Babylonstoren. In the garden lecture room, Ernst will give an illustrated talk. You will also have the chance to bounce the best plant choices for your garden off him. In the afternoon, we’ll propagate easy-to-grow waterwise plants from seed and cuttings to take home.

Lunch will be served at the Greenhouse Restaurant and is included in the price.

EVE ART STUDIO PAARL

Eve Art Studio in Paarl is giving a Valentines Pottery Workshop. Paint a bowl with “bubbles” technique which is easy and fun.

The workshop is open to all ages and will happen at 12c Louws Avenue Southern Paarl at the studio.

There is nothing quite like running, walking or riding in the dark on some of the most amazing trails under the stars in Paarl. All routes are well marked with marshals and some fun water-points.

Great food and entertainment on the evening with casual meals at Barley & Biltong Emporium and La Grapparia at Spice Route which will also be open. If you are a walker, runner or Mountain biker, you don’t want to miss this one. Pack those lights and come enjoy a great evening under the stars. Please note NO LIGHT, NO START, NO HELMET, NO RIDE.

MOUNTAIN BIKE RIDES:

Cost: Hero and Paarl Adventure Trail Members get free entry, non-members need to purchase a trail permit (R60.00) .There will also be a donation box where the funds go to trail maintenance.

Karoo Craft Breweries (KCB)

Every Friday from 17:00 – 21:00

A night market will be held at the KCB Taproom at Simonsvlei Winery every Friday.

We will have food stalls, craft beer, wine and live music. No booking needed. Free entrance.
