Balmy summer days and spectacular natural beauty makes Paarl a great choice for throwing down a blanket and unpacking lovely eats with a glass of wine as you relax and unwind with the people you like. Here is a few of our favourite spots that caters for your convenience with ready-packed picnic baskets filled with delicious goodies or where you can bring along your own basket. Just pre-book your spot, rock up on the day and enjoy!

RHEBOKSKLOOF WINE ESTATE

Monday – Thursday l 10am – 4pm & Friday – Saturday l 10am – 6pm
Enjoy time out with your family or the peace-and-quiet of a secret corner on this estate. The estate is child friendly and offers wonderful activities for children – ranging from a jungle gym to jumping castles, a lawn to run free, play ball or dance and most importantly, to be safe while having fun. Pets are also welcome when kept on a leash and cleaned after.

NEDERBURG

The Manor at Nederburg invites you to spend time relaxing on their lawns. Take in the magnificent views of the Winelands with their manor house as a backdrop. Their generous picnic baskets offer a selection of local cheeses and charcuterie to start, accompanied by olives, pickles, nuts and hummus with freshly baked bread rolls. The main course of roasted baby chicken with potatoes Lyonnaise and a crisp salad will be served by their friendly staff as they top up your glasses with non-alcoholic bubbly. To finish enjoy a deliciously decadent chocolate brownie.

The talented team under Chef Rob Hahn’s wing will treat you to mouth-watering, home-style, tried-and tested dishes made from locally sourced produce. This delectable fare can be enjoyed with Perdeberg’s award-winning selection of wines and their very own craft beer! LE BONHEUR REPTILES AND ADVENTURES
Monday – Sunday 9am – 5pm

Sun soaked early evening are magic in the waterside garden on Le Bonheur Reptiles and Adventures. Add to this a sumptuous picnic basket, romantic row boat rides, outdoor movies for the kids or a thrilling sunset croc pond tour for the whole family, and you have bliss. Boasting a new look and menu, the lake view restaurant on Le Bonheur Reptiles and Adventures now invites patrons to linger longer on Friday and Saturday evenings for terrace dining. Wood-fired pizzas, beautiful pastas and salads, starters and beer/gin on-tap. Gather together friends and family or a few work colleagues, and celebrate a memorable summer evening on le Bonheur!

Picnics are also offered during daytime hours. Activities abound: cycle through the orchard, catch and release fishing & croquet on the lawn. Le Bonheur operates 7 days a week.

Avondale Wine Estate

Picnics are available on Saturday and Sundays during the summer season.

There are 6 picnic spots at Avondale Wine Estate in Paarl. Each picnic spot has a picnic table which can seat up to 6 people, and each spot will also be

supplied with a picnic blanket. The picnic area is not a serviced area, you are

more than welcome to buy your wine or cooldrinks when you collect your basket either at the Ochra Deli or the Avondale wine tasting area.

All picnics can be picked up at the tasting room at Avondale Wine Estate from 12 noon on day of booked picnic (unless otherwise

requested).

The cost of the picnic basket is R550incl. VAT

(for two persons), kids picnics are available at

R150 incl. VAT (per child).

All picnics at Avondale need to be pre booked and paid for at least 48 hours

prior via picnics@ochra.co.za
