Who are we?
- Welvanpas Family Vineyards is situated just outside the town of Wellington, next to the well-known Bainskloof Pass. The farm has an exceptional natural beauty due to the surrounding Protea veld and the majestic Hawekwa and Groenberg Mountain Ranges. Welvanpas is steeped in history due to the fact that it’s been in the Retief family for more than 305 years. Well-known Voortrekker leader Piet Retief was born here and his father’s old grandfather-clock can still be viewed in the main homestead. The Welvanpas Family Vineyards Hiking Trail is breathtakingly beautiful. The gentle climb starts next to the Kromme River. Within the first two kilometres there is a lookout point to a beautiful waterfall. The trail takes you up the Groenberg Mountain Range through vineyard and pristine fynbos. The views over Wellington are majestic! The walking duration of the trail is between two and three hours. Permits can be obtained at the coffee shop on the farm.
