Who are we?
- Welvanpas Family Vineyards with its picturesque setting dates back to 1705 and has been the home of the Retief family for more than ten generations. Currently the farm is owned by Dan and Retha Retief. Dan is the 10th generation Retief on the farm Welvanpas, formerly known as De Krakeelhoek. He farms with vineyard, citrus and has a vine nursery. Welvanpas is also the proud owners of a boutique wine range under the Welvanpas label. With your next visit make sure to taste some of the reward winning wines and take a bottle home to remind you of your historic visit! The farm has a unique locality and is situated relatively high above sea level. The terrain consists of many different slopes and sides, which makes it ideal for many grape varieties. The different soil types were mapped so that the best root stock varieties could be chosen for each vineyard. Wine is still made by using old traditional methods. Red wines are fermented in open cement vats by a trusted and tried method.
