The stone foundation on which the foundation stands indicate the Afrikaans language established in Africa.

The book lying on the rocks represents the Bible.

The anchors that hold the pole upright and are attached to the four corners of the Bible, indicate the different influences that the initial four Boer Republics (Cape, Transvaal, Eastern Cape and Natal) had on the language.
