Who are we?

Husband and wife team, Ernst and Gwenda Gouws are the soul and drive behind this family owned wine company. They founded the family business on their international training and 30 years experience in the South African wine industry. Ernst studied winemaking at the Weinsberg Wine School in Germany during the 1970's. During the early 1980's he worked in the Champagne and Bordeaux regions in France, there after he spent 15 years actively involved with the development of a number of private wine estates in the Cape Winelands including Saxenburg, Rhebokskloof and Hoopenburg and in 2004 fulfilled his lifelong dream by going solo and launching the family flagship label, Ernst & Co.
