Just 15km south of Robertson, on the road to McGregor, lies Vrolijkheid Nature Reserve—a rugged haven of Karoo landscapes, hiking trails, and breathtaking biodiversity. In spring, the reserve bursts into colour as bright orange botterblom daisies scatter across the terrain, living up to its name—‘happiness’.

Choose from three scenic hiking trails that offer breathtaking views, unique vegetation, and abundant birdlife:
Rooikat Trail – 19km | 8 hours | A strenuous circular hike with spectacular mountain views.
Heron Trail – 3km | 1 hour | A gentle walk past two dams & bird hides (one wheelchair-friendly).
The Braille Trail – 1km | 1 hour | Designed for visually impaired visitors, leading to a bird hide.

R50 per adult | R30 per child – Available at the reserve office or through CapeNature Central Reservations.
