2021 marks the 31st anniversary of Nelson Mandela’s historic release from Victor Verster Prison now called Drakenstein Correctional Facility, where his renowned Walk To Freedom after 27 years of incarceration took place.
In celebration of one of the most significant lives in all of history, all are invited to join us in solidarity, where you and your family, friends or company can participate in a virtual walk, run or cycle and in so doing, recreate the footsteps of the father of our nation, Tata Madiba.
On 20 March 2021, it will be just about one year since lockdown was announced and this gave us time to realize that it is no longer “I” anymore but “WE” – to be humble, caring and to collaborate more than ever before. Legend Runner has created the new Uphill Challenge to create awareness of our tour operators and event organisers as these are the companies that have been forgotten – these are the people selling beds, promoting our country and our beautiful destinations.

Nowadays you can access Worcester via the Huguenot Tunnel, but do yourself a favour and treat yourself to the beautiful 24km drive that Du Toitskloof Pass offers through the mountains with views over Paarl valley and Paarl Rock.

On this day, 11 February 1990, Nelson Mandela stepped out of prison into the hearts of South Africans. We can all recall this day and where we were, but did you know that Madiba spent his last 14 months of incarceration in Paarl?
