Afrikaans Language Monument

6 April

6:30pm – 11pm

The pre-program starts at 6:30pm on Friday night and the main artists will appear on the stage from 8pm.

The Paarl Mountain and iconic Language Monument’s Amphi Theatre will be South Africa’s sound headquarters with amongst others Dr Victor & The Rasta Rebels, Paxton & Sean D Band as well as Jak de Priester who will fire up the evening at the Boland’s first Amphi Concert. These super successful artists will be preceded by emerging stars such as No Swett Band, Soulsound Live Band and Elwira Standili while the humorous MC, Uncle Cal, will ensure that this unique evening runs smoothly.

Dr Victor & The Rasta Rebels has been an Afropop and reggae sensation for decades and played at amongst others Paul Simon’s and Gloria Estefan’s concerts while Paxton won last year’s ‘Idols’ competition, is releasing her first album shortly and was chosen to perform in front of the Swedish queen. Jak de Priester is a singer, author and TV personality with eight albums and a poetry collection up his sleeve. MC Uncle Cal is a DJ legend that will make any audience laugh with his quirky humour and exuberant behaviour.

In the lead-up No Swett, a dynamic four-part vocal group, Soulsound Live, who interprets a wide range of genres on five instruments, as well as Elwira Standili, whose honeyed vocals were heard on ‘Idols’, will perform. Guests can also look forward to a wonderful atmosphere at the comfortable Amphitheatre with a beautiful view of the Boland’s valleys and mountains. Various affordable food stalls and a beer tent will be available to cater for any food and beverage needs.

Tickets are available beforehand at Computicket and the Language Monument at R100 for adults and R70 for children under 13 years. It will also be available at the Amphitheatre on the day, but then at R120 for adults and R80 for children under 13 years’ old. Bring a blanket or pillow and warm clothing.
