In the heart of the Witzenberg, in the midst of the Cape Winelands, discover the beautiful Ceres area … the Eden of the Cape.

The greater Ceres area comprises the towns of Ceres, Prince Alfred’s Hamlet and Op-die-Berg, as well as the beautiful landscapes of the Koue Bokkeveld and the open plains of the Ceres Karoo.

San rock paintings, hiking trails, 4X4 routes, mountain biking, scenic drives, bird watching, fresh water fishing, farm tours, cherry picking in season (mid- Nov to end Dec), juice tasting, horse riding, abseiling, quad biking, zipsliding, game viewing, golfing, local arts and crafts, home made preserves and SA’s biggest private model toy car collection are some of the highlights in the Ceres area.

Places to stay vary from luxury game reserves, a nature reserve, guest houses, bed & breakfasts, a holiday resort, self catering units, farm cottages to mountain & eco-huts. The area offers a good choice of places to eat, drink and relax.

Who are we?

The Ceres district consists of three diverse areas and each has its own unique charm and landscapes: The Ceres valley produces the finest deciduous fruit in South Africa. Also well-known for its fresh and dried fruit, fruit juices and natural spring water. The valley of Ceres, the Koue Bokkeveld and the open plains of the Tanqua Karoo were first inhabited by the San and Khoi, thousands of years ago.
