PUBLIC PROFILE

Chef Christiaan Campbell has left the Werf Restaurant at Boschendal after 7 years, and opened his restaurant Tebaldi’s at the spiritual retreat Temenos in McGregor a week ago.Chef Christiaan was the first South African chef to focus on ethical sourcing of ingredients for his kitchen, focusing on organic ingredients. He refuses to serve foie gras as he focuses on the humane treatment of animals. He had a vegetable and herb garden established, from which he sourced the freshest ingredients for his kitchen. He sourced beef, chicken and eggs from Farmer Angus at Spier, the home of animals reared ethically and humanely, and previously sourced vegetables and herbs from La Motte.

Christiaan worked at Delaire Graff until late 2014, before moving to Boschendal, where his Werf Restaurant opened, and a huge vegetable and herb garden was planted for him. Five months after opening, the restaurant service was still shaky.he was awarded the ‘Eat Out Woolworths Sustainability Award in 2018

It will be worthwhile to travel to McGregor to try Chef Christiaan Campbell’s new Tebaldi’s at Temenos.

At the beginning of January we spent a few nights in McGregor. During our stay we decided to take a trip out to Lord’s Wines, which is approximately a ten minute drive from town, for wine tasting and pizza. 🍷 🍕
What a great decision! If you haven’t visited @lords.wines it’s definitely one to add to your list. Tasting highlights included their Chardonnay, as well as the Pinot Noir Rosé. My favourite however was their Pinot Noir - The Legend 2018, which paired perfectly with our pizza 👌🏼 🍷 🍕

It's no secret that @tabufood is one of my favourite local brands ~ gmo free, plant based + organic certified 😍 🤩
Tabu specializes in organic plant based + macrobiotic food products. They also use locally sourced GMO free soy beans for their homemade tofu, tempeh + seitan. At the core of Macrobiotics is the principle of balancing Ying + Yang ~ which are essential aspects of an alkaline diet.
The Macrobiotic lifestyle was first developed by Japanese philosopher, George Ohsawa who believed in a holistic approach to health. This included diet, excercise, meditation + the Ying + Yang energy of particular foods. Macrobiotics is centered around whole grains, fruits + vegetables, beans + legumes, fermented foods + seaweeds. It's all about eating with the seasons + in balance with Mother Nature.
@tabufood offer an extensive range of delicious, nutritious + nourishing products including the most phenomenal short grain brown rice I've ever tasted in my life, whole grains, beans, different misos, noodles, sauerkraut + pickles, tamari, brown rice vinegar + a range of Japanese sauces, seaweeds, tempeh, tofu, vegan paneer, seitan, natto, amazaki, umeboshi, kudzu, koji + Japanese teas 🍵
They also have an Umami broth sachet that's my secret weapon for adding flavour + nutrients to quick meals 🌿
You can order directly from them online at tabufood.co.za or find them stocked at selected @my_spar stores too!
This isn't a sponsored post, I just LOVE this brand + the gorgeous family behind it ☀️
