1. A charcuterie and wine pairing, prepared on-site and served straight from @jewellspiceroute - there’s a vegetarian option too, just as thoughtful. Enjoy the journey for only R120 per person.
2. A day isn’t well spent unless it starts with a tea tasting at Nigiro Tea at the Spice Route. Three unique teas, freshly steeped for you - Lyle is ready to welcome you.
3. @brendas_preserves has made waves in the spice and preserve industry, breaking barriers and preserving a flair for life. Do something a little different and blend your own spice with the guidance of her spice masters.
4. Ever heard of a Pinsa? They’re taking off in South Africa, so why not try one at the source? La Grapperia’s Chef Christian spent time in Italy honing his Pinsa skills - similar to pizza, but with a more complex base that makes it lighter, crispier, and more flavourful.
5. Finally, discover the art of distilling and end your day with a gin tasting overlooking the vineyards and Table Mountain. Our personal favourite is the Fynbos Gin - and we’d love to hear which one you love most.
This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to fun things to do at @spiceroutepaarl - an endless adventure for those seeking the spice in life. We can’t wait to welcome you to our home

We’re thinking about that plate of Nederburg’s slow-braised Karoo lamb neck, tender and rich, or even Fairview’s fragrant lamb shoulder curry with a fresh poppadom. At Brookdale, delicate spinach and ricotta mezzaluna awaits, while Rhebokskloof offers a fresh smoked salmon salad.
Botanicum at Ridgeback tempts with a firm favourite - rustic mushroom sourdough pizza, and Perdeberg rounds it all off with their Fortitude Tiramisu, a creamy dessert infused with Fortified Chenin Blanc.
These are just a few of the plates calling for your attention – and there’s so much more to discover across all six participating wineries.
We hope to see you at some of them!

– The name “Paarl” comes from the giant granite rock that glints like a pearl after rain.
– The world’s youngest language, Afrikaans, has its official monument on Paarl Mountain.
– The Berg River isn't just a view – it’s actually central to the region’s farming and winegrowing.
– KWV, South Africa’s first branded wine cellar, was founded in Paarl back in 1918.
– Nederburg’s legendary Edelkeur dessert wine is still only available at the annual auction it helped inspire.
– Paarl has quietly led the way with South African wine firsts: the first Viognier bottling, the first Bordeaux blend, the first Nouvelle, the first white Pinotage, and the first Tempranillo-Tannat-Tinta Amarella blend.
There's always more to discover – and it starts right here.
